Need help booting from CD

I need to recover an old Tru64 4.0e system on a Compaq Au500 server.

It has several disks that won't FSCK and I need to bring it up so I can
comment them out of the fstab file so I can hopefully make the machine
healthy again.

I have the Operating system CD and I know that I can boot the system
from it but I'm very rusty on my DEC/Tru64 skills ( I still think of it
as DEC and Ultrix/DECUnix but that shows my age :-)) and When I boot
from the CD it wants to reinstall the system.

So how do I get the system to just come up in single user mode so I can
mount the root filesystem and move my minimal fstab file in place to
bring the system up. I know I'm probably going to be reinstalling the
filesystems on the bad disks from tapes ( I have two sets of btcreate
tapes) So is it an option to the boot command at the >>> prompt or
something I need to do after it boots up off the CD?
