Display information about the controller. The state of this controller can be either ACTIVE or STANDBY.This is not supported on Smart Array controllers.
SHOW OTHER_CONTROLLER
Displays information about the controller to which the context is set. The state of this controller can be either ACTIVE or STANDBY.This command applies to both Smart Array and MSA1000/MSA1500 series of controllers.
SHOW THIS_CONTROLLER
Displays the following information for the specified unit:
- Unit identifier (user-defined name)
- Unit status
- List of the disks assigned as data disks to the UNIT
- List of the disks assigned as spares to the UNIT
- RAID level
- Unit size
SHOW UNIT
Displays information about all the logical volumes configured on the controller.
Note
From the command-line interface of MSA1000/MSA1500 controllers, if ACLs are enabled for the units with respect to the connections (HBAs to which these controllers are connected), then only those corresponding UNITs are visible to the respective HBAs.After the ACLs are enabled, if you create any units on these controllers (from either CLI or MSA$UTIL), then you must set the ACLs explictly in order for these units to be visible.
SHOW UNITS <unit_n> / <qualifiers>
unit_n
The unit number can range from 0 to 31.
/BRIEF
Displays information about the unit./FULL
Displays the physical configuration information of the unit in addition to the unit information./VERBOSE
Provides logging that can be interpreted by engineering.
MSA> SHOW UNIT 0/FULL MSA> SHOW UNIT 1/BRIEF |
These commands display the physical configuration of the unit as well as the unit information.
Displays the MSA$UTIL version number.
SHOW VERSION / <qualifiers>
None
/FULL
Displays the WWID, firmware version, and controller revision information in addition to the MSA$UTIL version./VERBOSE
Provides logging that can be interpreted by engineering.
MSA> SHOW VERSION/FULL |
This command displays displays the WWID, firmware version, controller revision information, and the MSA$UTIL version.
Initiates the REBUILD operation for all the units configured in the disk group sequentially.Note that "hiding" the insertion of a new disk from the controller can result in the rebuild operation not starting automatically, even if the controller can detect hot-plug events (such as when connected to an MSA30). Removing a disk while the host system is running, and replacing the disk while the host system is powered off, effectively hides the insertion. The START RECOVER command initiates the rebuild operation in such scenarios also.
This command is supported on both OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS I64 platforms.
Note
For additional information about rebuilding volumes, see the SCAN ALL command.

Three OpenVMS Freeware CDs are included in the OpenVMS Version media kit. The Freeware CDs contain a variety of unsupported software tools and utilities, and OpenVMS ports of common open-source packages. These packages can be useful for a variety of technical, engineering, or educational purposes.
For information about each specific freeware package, refer to the appropriate FREEWARE_README.TXT file. To access the file, insert the appropriate CD into the CD drive and enter the commands, as appropriate to the Freeware volume being mounted. In the MOUNT commands shown, the ddcu: specification is the device name of the particular CD or DVD device present on your OpenVMS system.
$ MOUNT/OVERRIDE ddcu: $ TYPE ddcu: [FREEWARE_README.TXT] |
Once the appropriate CD is mounted, you can view the disk contents and directory structure using standard DCL commands (such as the DIRECTORY command), or you can use commands to launch the Freeware menu system for the appropriate volume. Consult the mount commands on the CD label.
For package-specific licensing and related information, consult the individual packages.
Copies of these packages and packages on older Freeware distributions, submission information for future Freeware distributions, and any updated information for this Freeware distribution are all available at:

The software on the OpenVMS I64 media belongs to HP. Use of the software is authorized only if you have a valid software license from HP for each of the products.
The License Management Facility (LMF) Product Authorization Key (PAK) allows you to access a software product. A PAK must be registered and loaded before you can install the associated software from this CD. To obtain PAKs, contact your HP support representative or your authorized reseller.
Licensing for OpenVMS I64 differs from licensing for OpenVMS Alpha in that the OpenVMS operating system and certain layered products are provided in operating environments: the Foundation Operating Environment (FOE); the Enterprise Operating Environment (EOE); and the Mission Critical Operating Environment (MCOE). The EOE contains the full contents of the FOE plus additional layered products. The MCOE contains the full contents of the EOE plus OpenVMS Clusters and Reliable Transaction Router (RTR).
You can purchase the FOE license and licenses for additional layered products, or you can choose the EOE or MCOE instead, depending on which layered products you want. For more information about the operating environments and their contents, refer to the HP Operating Environments for OpenVMS Industry Standard 64 Version 8.3--1H1 for Integrity Servers SPD at:

OpenVMS Version 8.3--1H1 documentation consists of two new manuals and one revised manual to supplement the current manuals, which were provided with OpenVMS Version 8.3. These manuals provide the new information you need to install and use Version 8.3--1H1.
The following release documentation is included in the OpenVMS Version 8.3--1H1 media kit:
Not all books in a documentation set are revised for each release. Typically, each release contains a number of new and revised books, with the remainder of the set consisting of books from previous releases. For example, the OpenVMS Version 8.3-1H1 set includes several new and revised books, with the remaining titles being carryovers from previous releases. The books in each set are the most current versions available.
In addition, all the documentation is available from the HP OpenVMS Systems Documentation Web site:
