Adding sound to system events

By default, your Windows 98 computer makes uses a series of sounds while you work: dings, chords, and beeps. One way you can personalize your computer is by customizing these sounds -- whether deleting them, changing them, or adding new ones.

Here's how:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Sounds icon.
  3. If you want to add a sound to an event, click the event, click the name of the sound you want to hear in the Name list, and then click Apply. If you want to delete a sound to an event, click the event, and then click Delete.
