SUMMARY: dump updates atime - bug?

I posted earlier today, complaining that vdump changes the access time
on every file it backs up. Thanks to Brad Wilkin <wilkin_at_lclark.edu>
for pointing out that it is documented in the vdump(8) man page, and
DEC claims it is a 'feature.' Brad also mentioned that he considers it
a rather blatent bug, as do I.

Vdump/vrestore certainly seems to be the weakest part of the Advanced
File System. I've heard people from DEC say that they hope to add an
rvdump/rvrestore sometime in the future. I hope that they change the
access time behavior (or at least make it optional) while they're at it.
