dump problems

I have the following O.S. version:

DEC OSF/1 V2.1 (Rev. 250)

I get an error message when I try to back-up a filesystem:

====================================
# /sbin/dump -0uN /usr/users
dump: SIGSEGV received -- ABORTING!
IOT trap (core dumped)
====================================

Same message with /usr/sbin/dump (by the way, why are they
different in size? ... 73728 Jun 9 1994 /usr/sbin/dump
                   ... 401408 Jun 9 1994 /sbin/dump)

I tried dbx:

=========================================
# dbx /usr/sbin/dump
...
(dbx) run
signal Segmentation fault at [strcmp:58 ,0x3ff800a67ec] Source not available
...
=========================================

Do I have to reload dump, or is it a problem of V2.1?
