SUMMARY: New PAK's needed for OS installation?

My query was:

> I'm installing OSF V3.0 onto a system currently running V1.3a. Are new user licence PAK's needed for this?
> The package I got from Digital lists the user licences as 'invoice only', i.e. no new PAK sheets. The
> sales rep. thinks this is OK, but I'm not sure I believe that, and I don't want to find out the hard way.
> Please help.

The answers I got say that the existing licence PAK's for V1.3 are still valid, and one
just re-enters the information from them. The LMF database format hasn't changed,
so the licences can be restored from a backup of the database. Also, it was noted that
previous versions of the OS did not check for the existence of OSF-BASE, and
people who didn't have that (for whatever reason) had trouble with V3.0.
