LSM and dynamic extensibility

Hi managers !

A question about LSM. I know that a LSM volume easily can be extended to
include newly added disks, but is this also true for the filesystem created
on it ??
If I extend a volume to include a new disk, do I also have to remake the
filesystem if I want it to grow ? (I know about 'extendfs' in OSF1 3.0),
e.g do I have to
        1. Backup the UFS filesystem
        2. Extend the LSM volume
        3. 'newfs' including the newly added space ('extendfs' in OSF/1
3.0)
        4. mount and then recover data (only mount in OSF/1 3.0)
or can I
        1. Extend the LSM volume
        2. Mount the filesystem using the newly added space.

Could someone please supply me with some info on the differences between
AdvFS and LSM ??

Summary will follow !
