Dear Sirs,
* WARNING to alpha-osf-managers *
it is Ultrix related but many among you are also Ultrix managers ;-)
We do use CAP 6.0 on DecStations 5000/200 MIPS under Ultrix version 4.4
Patches have been applied up to and including patch # 192
Recently, we noticed a strange problem : binary files dragged from a Unix
filesystem to the Macintosh disk are modified !
The checksum generated by sum is different and when the data (in fact a
generated ramp) are displayed using MatLab, we can see a square-shaped
bump at some point in the curve instead of a linear ramp.
We made these tests on a traffic-less network and also ASCII files do not
seem to be altered.
We also use CAP on DecStation 3000/600 Alpha under OSF/1 version 2.1 and
the problem does not occur ! (This can be a hint since the buggy machines
are 32 bits and the Alpha are 64 bits).
Have you any hints ? Did you already experience the same problems ?
Regards,
