My original posting described a new problem arised in 3.0, that a telnet
session sometimes does not disconnect when you logout out from ksh. My
assumption was that our terminal emulators and terminalservers don't receive a
reset of the connection.
Some pointed out that there is a patch fixing problems in the kernel, which
lead to defunct processes tying up ports. The patch is UVO102126, the file is
called C941227-5369.tar.Z, (/usr/sys/BINARY/kern_exit.o), and requires a
kernel rebuild. This does not however solve my problem, since I already
installed this one along with others.
There is apparently also a problem with Networker, looking much like my
problem, when a connection with a pc client isn't reset.
Another suggestion was to set the TMOUT variable in ksh to something, but that
doesn't fix the problem either.
So, this time, the problem still is unsolved. I guess I will have to wake up
DEC Sweden tomorrow morning.
