I had requested help getting past a POP setup problem. Without restating
the rather long original message, I was getting "Operating System Error"
messages (seen from runing 'mailq' to check the delivery queue) when trying
to deliver to newly created POP test user.
Many thanks to Paul Rockwell, who supplied the following:
>Could be permissions on the spop program. If you set up your permissions
>as the documentation said, the owner of the /var/spool/pop directory is pop,
>right?
>
>Try changing the owner of /usr/lib/mh/spop to pop, not root.
Which seems to have at least got me past that problem. The test message
did indeed get delivered to the /var/spool/pop/mikeg file, as intended.
Also, Mary Aplin <aplin_at_alpha.loyno.edu> offered the following:
> I have a two-page document (supplied by DEC software support) on setting
> up the POP server. It's a little tattered and has my handwriting on it,
> but I would be happy to fax it to those in need!! (I wouldn't have gotten
> pop up without it.)
>
> Again, it's for pop3d.
Thanks for all the quick help!
