I'm running OSF/1 3.0 on a Sable (2100) platform. I recently installed a 1Meg
PrestoServe board and in general it works fine and has given us a significant
performance boost. But under heavy loads, it appears to slow the system way
down, almost hanging it. Any attempt to run something from an xterm hangs.
Rebooting we thought was the only way out. Recently, we discovered that with
the system on its knees, we could create and execute a new launch from the
Session Manager to dxpresto to disable it. As soon as we did this, everything
freed up and the system continued on with no hits, runs, or errors. I have
a call in to DEC, but has anybody seen a similar problem or know of a fix.
We are running this with advfs and an 10g DEC SWXCR-EB Raid farm.
