I know that this was covered in some messages on this
group way back, but I don't seem to have saved anything
on the subject.
When OSF boots, it reports the following (on my machine) :
physical memory = 64.00 megabytes.
available memory = 55.03 megabytes.
What is the missing 9 MB used for ? Kernel ?
Is there a way to reduce this ?
When adding up the memory from the free / act / wired
columns of vmstat, I get 55 MB. Is this what I should get ?
Where is any of this described in the man pages, or bookreader
documentation ?
Thanks in advance,
