The recent spate of duplicate messages on thist list was due to a
seriously broken mail system at a subscribing siteD: ziff.com. This
system was taking messages from alpha-osf-managers, changing the From
header to something like "From: alpha-osf-managers-relay_at_ornl.gov
(Real Sender)", and replacing the Message-ID header with a new one.
The software I use to run the list detects loops by looking at the
Message-ID, so it didn't filter these duplicates out. I've notified
(or least tried to notify) the postmaster at the offending site and
have unsubscribed all alpha-osf-managers recipients at that site until
I have reason to believe the problem has been fixed.
