I have a few questions on DECnet; they may be poorly phrased, as I have not
a clue about DECnet to begin with. But if anyone can shed any light
on any part of this, your help is greatly appreciated.
Can you install DECnet/OSI V3 on an Alpha AXP 3000 running OSF/1 V3.0
*without* giving it a Phase V DECnet name? I am trying to set the node
up as a DECnet-Internet gateway. In the environment here, all DECnet
nodes are running Phase IV. I get to the point in the DECnet installation
script where it prompts for a Phase V name, and I don't know what
one should look like. Is there a way to get around giving it a Phase V
name? Or Is it the case that the DECnet/OSI package is
an implementation of Phase V, and that by installing it you are
thereby setting up Phase V? Could this node function as a gateway
for Phase IV nodes if it is the only one running Phase V?
