Problems booting RIS server over FDDI (DEFTA-FA)

Hello,

Is anyone having success using a DEFTA-FA card to boot
a ris server and install DEC OSF/1 3.2? My server is
running DEC OSF/1 3.2A.

The initial bootp handshake succeeds and I get the vmunix
image, but when the vmunix image starts, its bootp handshake
fails (error 60) and vmunix drops into a # prompt because it
can't get on the network. The machines in question are both
DEC AXP 3000 model 600s. I am using 'b 2/ez0' as my boot command.

If I reconfigure the client info in the ris server to specify
the ethernet MAC address rather than the FDDI MAC address,
and wire my client and server together with a stretch of
ethernet, then the install works.

This is not a practical work around for install all my machines,
though.

Ideas or reports that this same scenario is working / not working
for others would be appreciated!

Thanks,

        -Henry
