Hello,
I have a 1.44Mb floppy that I am trying to format in my AlphaStation
200 4/166 running OSF/1 v. 3.0. The drive is an RX26. Note that I
want to format it as an OSF disk, NOT a DOS disk (I have mtools for that).
I did ...
disklabel -z /dev/rfd0c
disklabel -rw /dev/rfd0c RX26
After the second command, I get ...
Warning, Unable to obtain disk information for /dev/rfd0c
Then, I try ...
newfs /dev/rfd0c RX26
and I get ...
Warning: changing block size to 8192
Warning: changing frag size to 1024
write error: 5759
wtfs: I/O error
Ok, I'll bite. Why not try disklabel'ing it as an RX26HD? ...
Warning, Unable to obtain disk information for /dev/rfd0c
disklabel: ioctl DIOCSDINFO: Open partition would move or shrink
Use alternate partition
What gives here? Has anyone been able to do this?
Thanks,
Russ Fink
