Hi Folks,
I am getting some strange results when trying to
control pathworks permissions using both the OSF server programme
'pwadmin' or ManageWorks on a PC. When I try to grant a certain
group of users permission to share a resource, the change does
not take effect. In fact the change seems to have been
recorded in a parallel access control.
i.e. I wish to grant write permission on the resource
c:\disk2\pw\users\bio_data to a group. I do so using either
of the menu programmes and it has no effect. Both menu
programmes, in fact, also tell me it has had no effect.
BUT, if I give the server command 'net access'
it tells me the permissions for :
c:\disk2\pw\users\bio_data, which has not changed AND
c:\\disk2\pw\users\bio_data, which now has new permission set.
(note : second backslash after C:)
So, it seems my changes are being recorded in a nonsense 'share'.
I can make the necessary change using 'net access xxxx' but find
that although the group now has permission for subdirectories of the
share, the permission does not extend to the root. The permission
was, of course, applied to the share root.
I am using OSF/1 3.2 and pathworks 5.0C, Any ideas ????
