We are in the middle of configuring and installing Networker on OSF/1 ver 3.0,
on a 3000/600 and a TZ877 jukebox.
We just aquired the jukebox license, but have over a few weeks noticed a few
messages regarding backups being abandoned by savefs, since the filesystem has
been inactive for 30 minutes. According to the DEC's addendum to the manual,
this can happen when taking backup of a NFS-mounted filesystem. However, we
don't backup any NFS-mounted filesystem, but that is not the issue for my
question.
It happened again during the weekend. This time, however, NSR at the same
time failed to change tape in the jukebox, and nsrjb -M hung. I am not able
kill it, because it's in the U state.
So is anyone else experiencing problems like this? Is there a way of getting
rid of the hung process without booting??
