TLZ06 and compression

We are running OSF1 V3.0 on an 2100/500MP and have a tlz06 with
a 4-tape loader.

1. Is there any way of jumping from tape to tape from the command line ?

More Importantly :
2. I have toggled the compression switch on the back of the drive so that
it is enabled (compression on) but I still can't seem to get about 2.3 gig
(2434433024 bytes) onto one tape. Is there a software switch that must be
used in conjunction with the hardware switch, do I need to make a new device.
There was a discussion that I missed about piping yes to a dump script that
loaded the next tape does anyone have the summary for this as I was not a
member of the list at that time but I heard about it.

Thanks in advance,
Gavin Mercer.
p.s. I know my .sig has problems but that can wait I just want a full dump
