setting up remote printer

I'm such a newbie - Yuk.

I'm trying to set up a remote print queue to print from my alpha to
my vax line printer.

I have the following:

# cat /etc/printcap
vaxprint|cprinter:\
        :lp=:\
        :rm=ocvaxc:\
        :rp=cprinter:\
        :mx#0:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/vaxprint:

# ps agx | grep lpd
30188 ?? I 0:00.17 /usr/lbin/lpd
24453 ttyp1 S + 0:00.01 grep lpd

# lpc status
vaxprint:
printer is on remote host ocvaxc with name cprinter
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        no entries
        no daemon present

# lpc start vaxprint
vaxprint:
        printing enabled
        daemon started

# lpc status
vaxprint:
printer is on remote host ocvaxc with name cprinter
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        no entries
        no daemon present

So, apparently the 'lpc start' did nothing?
What am I doing wrong?
