You need to add this line in your config (ie /usr/sys/conf/"HOSTNAME"):
controller fb0 at tc0 slot 0 vector fbint
this line tells the system that there is a controller in slot0 and that it is
a frame buffer card. If the card is not in slot0 that entry needs to reflect
which slot your frame buffer card is in.
