Greetings:
Background -> We have some new machines that came with the swap space
on the boot disk set at 128 MB. However, we beefed the ram up on these
machines such that this amount of swap space is insufficient. Each
machine has an rz26l (1.05 Gb) as the boot disk and an rz28 (2.1 Gb) as
a secondary disk. The nice folks at DEC support said that rather than
repartitioning the boot disk, I could set up a secondary swap space on
the rz28 so that the two swap partitions would equal what we desire
to have for swap space. My questions are:
1. Is there any noticeable decrease in performance with having swap
space spread over two disks?
2. Can I just have two partitions on the rz28 disk ("a" partition for
files and "b" partition for swap)? Someone once told me that you could
only have a minimum of three partitions if you didn't use the "c"
"whole disk" partition. DEC support said this wasn't so but I always
like to get second opinions, especially with folks who know from
experience.
TIA,
Cary
