Ports on the 3000/500

Greetings:

A quick question....

We have 3000/600 and I have a question about the ports on the back.
There are two that you can hook a printer to, according to the docs.
One is an RJ45-type and the other looks suspiciously like a parallel
port (25 pins). The "Owner's guide" wasn't much help. It labels these
ports as:

"Alternate console/printer port" for the RJ45-ish port
and
"Synchronous/asynchronous communications port" for the 25 pin one.

So... is the 25 pin port a parallel port or is it a serial port?

We are desiring to hook a printer up to the box and the printer only has
a parallel port on it.

TIA

Cary
