Hi,
I have 2 questions:
1) I have an AXP160 SBC (Single Board Computer) hooked up to a
StorageWorks Desktop Expansion Unit containing a hard disk, CDROM and tape.
I can't get the SBC to boot off either the CDROM or hard disk. When I do
a "show devices" I only see ethernet (ewa0) and SCSI (pka0). Shouldn't I
see the devices in the StorageWorks also? (This StorageWorks works on my
3000/300x). Does the SBC automatically probe the SCSI bus, or do I have
to enable the bus (with an environmental variable?) some how ?
2) Until I get the above to work, I want to boot the SBC as a diskless
node with my 3000/300X acting as a server. The DEC hotline told me that I
can't boot over the network - only install - and that you always need a
local swap disk. That doesn't seem right to me. The OSF/1 (Digital UNIX)
install manual tells how to boot over the network and I see a man page for
bootpd. However, the bootpd man page specifies a lot of configuration
items - DEC usually supplies scripts or example configuration files for
this sort of thing. Am I missing something? Can I do what I want?
Thanks in advance
