For the past week, I've been trying to rebuild the kernel on a DEC Alpha
3000/300. We recently performed an update install from OSF/1 v2.x to
3.0B. When attempting to build the kernel I get the following error message:

I have reinstalled the layered products that the upgrade install program
said might cause problems and still no success. I also reinstalled some
of the required kernel object files. Still, no success.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
If it is going to be impossible to fix, my next step is to wipe the disk
and to a full new installation of 3.0B. I hope that this can be avoided.
Any suggestion, comments, or directions are always appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg
