Thanks for the following responses. I got a patch shortly
after my phone call to Digital.

There are patches to much of the accounting subsystem.
Todd Acheson:
There is a new acctcon1 available for 3.0 that fixes some problems.
OSFV30-034-1 is the patch id, I believe.
Martin J. Moore:
Are you running OSF 3.2? If so, there is a known problem where acctcom
will core dump if more than 32 ttys or ptys are defined. Patch OSF320-063
fixes this problem.
Paul A. Sand:
(1) I believe there's a patch to acctcon1 available from DEC.
(2) I believe fwtmp is designed to be invoked by one of the other
accounting programs automatically.
Hellebo Knut:
As far as I know the accounting on Digital Unices is bad/broken/not
sufficient (mark the most suitable) up to 3.2. You could, however, try the
wtmpfix program to see if things clear up.
