I have been told that the only memory I can put
in my DEC 2000 AXP model 300 is ECC 72-pin SIMMS.
The SIMMS have 12 chips on them and I think the
ECC stands for Error Correcting Code.
The alternative would be to use PC SIMMS like
the ones they stick in everyday PC's (Mac,
IBM Compat., ...) with 8 or 9 chips the ninth
being the parity chip.

A 16M ECC SIMM costs $1600 (Aus) and
a 16M PC SIMM costs $ 600 (Aus).

We are thinking of upgrading to 64M which gives
us a a total bill of $6400 (or with luck $2400)

Does anybody know if the 2000 can take the PC
Memory ?
