Setting up ftp -- wierd behavior-- help ! Solved !!

Thanks to Andrew Gallatin <gallatin_at_isds.Duke.EDU>
for the simple solution.

I copied ls from /bin/ls rather than from /sbin/ls .

/sbin/ls is statically loaded. This is much better for
a chrooted ftp directory.
