We recently upgraded from v2.0b to v3.2 on an Alpha 2000/300. Most
everything went fine (forgot about the TIA host license file, forgot
about the BOOTP stuff, etc. :^) but we're having an odd problem ...
This box is our NNTP news server and needs to verify that users are
coming in from permitted hosts. Unfortunately, it's refusing good
sites - and I can't explain it at all. Pings from other boxes at
the same time that this one refuses - all go through clean. I have
nnrp.access entries for *.hahnemann.edu, 192.54.238.* and even have
tried host-specific entries ... sometimes it refuses, and moments
later it permits the same machine to connect.
[ it *JUST* refused a connx from our DNS box, of all things ... ]
Telnets & rlogins are pretty slow at times, too. Anyone know what
was changed in between 3.2 and the current release?? I've been
finding more and more situations that WWW-accessible release notes
would be handy. cisco's release history from 9.1 to 10.3 would be
interesting, if someone has it at the tip of their fingers. :^)
