I received seven responses all pointing me to "locale" and or "-v" option of the
more command. Both answers were right. I was able to solve the problem both by
adding the following to the ".profile":
MORE=-v
export MORE
or by adding
LANG=fr_CA.ISO8859-1
export LANG
Note that en_US.ISO8859-1 also displayed the French characters properly. I
preferred the latter solution, setting up my locale to fr_CA.ISO8859-1.
This was my first time using alpha-osf-managers and I must say that I was
impressed with the efficiency of the mailing list.
