We have had some problems that happen a couple times a month.
It happened again today. I came in, and could not log into the console under my
userid or root. I could telnet fine from another computer, using my userid.
We tried "shutdown -r now", an announcement was made that it was shutting down,
but nothing happened. Next we tried "reboot -q", and this did it. The other
times when this has happened there have been a lot of 'talk' processes started
up (we don't know the reason for this either), but today there didn't seem to be
anything strange running.
Oh, we are running OSF/1 1.3. Anyone know the reason that this might be
happening?
