It appears that the latest version of the "amd920824" distributions
are in fact alpha-ready:
Look for the file "amd920824upl90.tar.gz" in annonymous ftp sites.
Some that my archie server returned to me are:
ftp.cs.umn.edu /pub/networking/amd
ftp.sunet.se /pub/unix/admin/amd
infosys.zdv.uni-mainz.de /pub/amd
liasun3.epfl.ch /pub/net/amd
ugle.unit.no /pub/unix/network/amd
My apologies to the others who wanted to find alpha-ready AMD
