[Q] /usr/sbin/fstat and OSF3.0

From: Jason Yanowitz <yanowitz_at_eternity.cs.umass.edu>

OS: OSF1 V3.0 358 alpha
[It's a dual-CPU box with 512MB RAM and a few filesystems (including a
raid one).]

problem: fstat gives this error:
(invoked as just fstat, or fstat -v, or fstat -u foobar, etc.)

/vmunix: No namelist

fstat permissions:

-rwx--s--x 1 bin system 24576 August 8 1994 /usr/sbin/fstat*

(and I get this same behavior if I am root)

(note, there are no man pages on fstat, the executable, that I can
find, on my system).

ps, top, monitor, syd, all work without a problem.

I am sure this is something obvious. I feel foolish. If you have the
answer to my woes, please tell me.

Thanks,
Jason

ps: I searched through the mailing list archives to no avail, by the
way. Also, I looked in the two FAQs I could find.
