SUMMARY - Postscript files

My original request was to do with printing non-duplex PostScript
files on a duplex printer from the Alpha.

Thanks to all the following for the responses

        Harald Martens Meyer <Harald.M.Meyer_at_geomatic.no>
        Magnus.Harlander_at_Physik.TU-Muenchen.DE
        Harald Lundberg <hl_at_tekla.fi>
        Peter Bruhn <bruhn_at_aie.wu-wien.ac.at>
        behrooz_at_rudolf.nscl.msu.edu (kevin behrooz)
        CHELA KUNASZ /JILA (303) 492-7807 <CHELA_at_JILA.COLORADO.EDU>
        Anthony D'Atri <aad_at_nwnet.net>

Four solutions were arrived at ...

a. Simple way is to insert the following line into the PostScript file
after the top comments either manually, by script or by filter

      statusdict begin true setduplexmode end

b. To modify the printcap file giving two relevant entries, modify the .params
file to include a '.DUPLEX' in the duplex spool area

c. To use transcript software (costs money)

d. To use a more general solution using a perl filter to allow other features
   eg. booklet printing.

In the end I opted to use solution 'a' (suggested by several people) in the
first instance and look at the more general solution (provided by Magnus
Harlander) 'd' on a slightly longer time-scale.

Thanks again
