I had requested information about any idle job killers that were
available (free, shareware, or otherwise). I got quite a few from
suggestions including these:

If you've any system programming experience you could take the code
for my `autonice' daemon and modify it to search for idle jobs instead
of long lived jobs.

You can get it from:

  ftp://ftp.mrc-bbc.ox.ac.uk/pub/dec_alpha/autonice-0.4.tar.gz

There's one called untamo available on sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk, probably
elsewhere, sounds good, but I haven't actually tried it. It's free so could be
worth a look.

I haven't had the chance to look at all of these yet. As I had mentioned
in my original post, we had been evaluation Logmon from Computronics.
I've gotten lots of support from them in getting it working. The jury is
still out but thanks to everyone for their responses.
