Internet daemons

Hello All,

When I grep for all the root processes, I notice only telnetd and
rlogind are running based on the internet services specified in
the inetd.conf.

My understanding is that just as long as inetd is running, it will
invoke other internet daemons when a request has been made, reducing
load on the system, and they disappear once the program(s) is finnished.
Is this correct?

At which point can I see one of the daemons such as rshd, ftpd,
rexecd, etc. running, for example? Should they be running at all as
root?

Thanks
