/etc/exports -- root privilege not granted?

Dear Managers,

My purpose is to export a certain file system with
root privilege to one client system, regular accesss to
other client systems. I tried different formats and they all
didnot do the job except -root=0 option, which actually gave
root privilidge to all machines which are allowed to mount this
file system.

The format I'd like to use is:

/export/filesystem -root=trust_machine,access=netgroup_name

or /export/filesystem -root=trust_machine -access=netgroup_name

both failed on me. root is mapped to nobody for the trusted machine.
The trusted machine is in NIS table as well as in local /etc/hosts table.

The trusted machine IS also in the netgroup_name mentioned in
the access list. Is that a problem?

BTW, my system's uname is : OSF1 ohlone.ced.berkeley.edu V1.3 111 alpha
I DID sent HUP signal to mountd after changing /etc/exports.

Thanks for your time,

Susan Feng
