After I posted the summary of responses pertaining to configuring ADVFS
disks/domains, George Cebulka<georgec_at_remus.psc.edu> shared these tips:
1)
Make sure you have at least two filesets mounted in each domain when using
ADVFS. If you have problems with ADVFS and have to use any of the repair tools
in /usr/field you have to have the a fileset mounted in the domain that you wish
to repair. If you have only one set in a domain and it goes bad you can't mount
the set to fix it. You can mount a small fileset as a place holder to avoid this
problem.
2)
This one may sound dumb, but it happend to me. Make sure that the disks that
you are using are not being used for anything else. It is entirely possible to
use a disk mounted for swap as part of an lsm volume or part of an ADVFS
fileset. I did this and nuked /usr/users on my machine. It seems that swap, ufs,
lsm and advfs don't know about one anohter as well as they should.
