PATCH ID: OSF350-034
Installation Instructions: A kernel rebuild is required.
PROBLEM: (Patch ID: OSF350-034) (HPXQ86C85,HPXQ87A4A,HPXQ85059)
********
On any Digital UNIX V3.2C system with a PXG-family graphics card, the
system panics during the initialization of the X server (which usually
occurs at the end of system startup when xdm is started).
Here is a sample stack trace:
0 boot() ["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/machdep.c":1735]
1 panic() ["../../../../src/kernel/bsd/subr_prf.c":757]
2 trap() ["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/trap.c":12139]
3 _XentMM() ["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/locore.s":1307]
4 bzero() ["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/fastcopy.s":879]
5 pq_ioctl() ["../../../../src/kernel/io/dec/ws/pq.c":480]

7 sccioctl() ["../../../../src/kernel/io/dec/tc/scc.c":2329]
8 cnioctl() ["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/hal/cons_sw.c":204]
9 spec_ioctl() ["../../../../src/kernel/vfs/spec_vnops.c":1974]
10 vn_ioctl() ["../../../../src/kernel/vfs/vfs_vnops.c":1109]
11 ioctl_base() ["../../../../src/kernel/bsd/sys_generic.c":465]
12 ioctl() ["../../../../src/kernel/bsd/sys_generic.c":344]

The PXG-family consists of the following graphics options:
PMAG-DA PXG
PMAG-FA PXG Turbo
PMAG-EA PXG+
PMAGB-F PXG Turbo+
The PXG family of graphics options can be used with Digital UNIX V3.2C
for displaying 2D graphics only. Support for the PXG family has been
retired in Open3D V3.0 which runs on Digital UNIX V3.2C. Earlier
versions of Open3D which support the PXG family are not supported on
Digital UNIX V3.2C. Support for the PXG family will also be retired
from Digital UNIX in the next major functional release after V3.2C.
