Hi

Does anyone know what is the meaning of the SYN_RCVD state in Digital
UNIX ? I heard that there are 8 SYN_RCVD states in port 25 and this
means that there can only be 8 port connections to port 25. The method
to change this SYN_RCVD states is by :

dbx -k /vmunix

(dbx) p somaxconn
8 -- the number this now
(dbx) a somaxconn=[number you want] -- assign a number to the kernel variable
(dbx) patch somaxconn=[number you want] -- patch this into the kernel

no need to reboot the system on this. it will take effect immediately
when the system is rebooted the next time, it will remember the new value.

Actually, I ask this questions because my system is experiencing
connection rejection by the smtp.

Thank you.

Have a nice day.

Regards
