Hi All,

Sorry to rehash this again but I'm missing something...

I too have a HP C1553A on a Sable running 3.2 of DEC Unix and would
like to be able to control compression via software.

I have rebuilt my kernal successfully and rebooted using it. My
cam_data.c has...

 /* HP C1533A - RDAT drive */
 {"HP C1533A", 14, DEV_TZRDAT, (ALL_DTYPE_SEQUENTIAL << DTYPE_SHFT) |
   SZ_RDAT_CLASS,
   (struct pt_info *)ccmn_null_sizes, SZ_NO_BLK, (DEC_MAX_REC - 1),
   &tlz06_dens, NO_MODE_TAB, SZ_NO_FLAGS,
   NO_OPT_CMDS, SZ_READY_DEF, SZ_NO_QUE, DD_REQSNS_VAL | DD_INQ_VAL,
   43, 64
 },

added to it.

I rebuilt the devices and using /dev/rmt0l or /dev/rmt0a still
produces a tape unreadable by a vanilla tlz04.

Any ideas on what I missed?

Thanks,
