Serial Port question

Hi,

I have what is probably a real simple question about one of the serial
ports on my 3000/500 AXP system. I'm using tip to talk to /dev/tty01
to connect to a custom device. That device needs 8 bit even parity
handshake, and the default setting on the scc is 8 bit no parity.
Does anyone know what flag I should use in the line entry in /etc/remote
to enable this? I tried pa=even, but it doesn't seem to help. I think
stuff I send to the port is being properly received by the device, but
the stuff it sends back is being garbled and/or dropped.

Thanks in advance for any info.
