Hi,
I had problems printing on a DecLaser 3500 through IP (didn't print
anything).
The answer came from Rene Laudert and Lucien Hercaud: this printer does
speak TCP/IP but doesn't speak lpd !!
When setting up the printer with the software provided with it, a daemon is
discreetly launched -which is totally undocumented in my doc. If, for one
reason or another, you reboot your machine -which I did- the daemon is lost
... and the printer also.
So, in order to print, you must type (or add in rc3.d, of course):
/usr/nic/nic_print /dev/nic/my_printer my_printer 10001 [&]
which is not totally obvious....
The software also creates a printcap entry which works OK.
Well, now that it works, I find the 3500 a very good machine. Excellent
also for my PC.
My thanks also to:
