DECnsr migrate

  Hello,
We are about to replace our two DEC 5000/133 backup servers with
Alpha 200 4/100s. On-line idexes on each server occupy about
  9Gbytes.

Addendum documentaion to NetWorker software provides information how to
migrate the data. On the source system (DEC 5000/133) nfs mount a file
system from the target machine and use uasm directive. Fine, but
our initial tests indicate that to migrate 100Mbytes of data
would take over 1 hour! (hence almost 4 days for the lot !!??)

One obvious possibility which offers itself would be to bypass nfs; move
the Ultrix disk onto the Alpha and run uasm there. Can we do that?

Has somebody been though the similar exercise?

  Regards and thanks
