Here are the postings I recieved,

 Hi Jeff,

 You've prob. already got this but here goes anyway. The age old prob. of
 non-root mounting is my guess. Due to the lack of authentication from
 non-Unix system to establish privileged accts, as from a PC, you have to
 start your mount daemon (mountd) with the '-n' option to allow access.

 This is most cleanly done by editing the /etc/rc.config file to
 reflect the following :

NONROOTMOUNTS="1"
export NONROOTMOUNTS
PCNFSD="1"
export PCNFSD

 Another possibility is that the user on the PC is not authenticated. This
 has the effect of not allowing printing dirs. to mount and other weirdness.

 PC-NFS gives the most useless errors messages which often fall into a
couple
 of broad categories which aren't much indication of the real cause of the
 error. Anyway hopefully it's the first alternative (non-root mounts) that's

 correct.

 Good luck,

 -Will

First, let me say sorry for my earlier half_baked recipe(i.e answer
to your query).
I will try to say something(which worked for us).

I assume that you are NOT able to mount.
The NFS on DEC seems to be more secure nfs.
It alllows mounting by those clients which are explicitely listed
in hosts file or NIS( YP in our case). A client which is not
there in NIS or hosts gets mounting problem.
You try to include client host entry in NIS and mount.

I added the pc IP address in the yp host table and my problem is solved.

Thanks,

Jeff
