I'm on a fishing expedition, please bear with me.
We need to create a data interface between some Digital UNIX boxes
(AlphaServer 2100) strung together with TCP/IP and an IBM mainframe on SNA.
I've got the SPD's on the DEC SNA Domain Gateway family, but, being
functionally brain dead as far as SNA is concerned, I'm trying to get
information on as many alternatives as possible.
What I'd *like* to be able to do (I'm sticking my neck out here) is be
able to open a plain ol' socket to some black box that would
talk TCP/IP on one interface and spit out SNA on another. A protocol
converter, perhaps? Anyone know if such a beast exists?
I'd also like to hear from anyone with experience using the DEC SNA gateway
under DU. Specifically; what kind of application have you implemented?
did you use the SNA API tool kit? how was it?
Any and all replies welcomed, and, if it gets interesting, I will
summarize for this list.
Thanks in advance.
