query on dec-alpha operating systems

I am curious about DEC alpha OS options. I am currently a pleased
Linux user of PCs and would like to investigate if Linux is ready for
the Alpha machines. Further, if the NT route is also viable on Alpha,
one could have the "best of both worlds". My goal is simply a faster
desktop machine that could also be used for "number-crunching"
applications.

Are there any ORNL DEC-alpha NT users? Is NT for Alpha at the same
version level as NT for Intel?

Are there any ORNL DEC-alpha Linux users? I know about the Linux
versions for Alpha (BLADE 0.3). If you use it, are you happy with it?
Any particular problems?
