     Hi,

Thanks to all who were so kind in explaining what a <defunct> was.
All of the explanations were great. The note that interested me the
     most was the following:

>> A defunct process is a process that's dying, but isn't dead yet [no
>>kidding intended]. These processes take some time to go away-and some
>>operating systems and/or versions thereof have trouble getting rid of
>>them.
>>
>>I think I've seen mention being made of patches for DU (aka DEC
>>OSF/1) versions on this list...
>>
>>Best regards
>>Stam

Perhaps someone else has experienced this phenomenon unde DUv3.2c
and also recalls the patches that STAM is referring to in the reply
message. Any information would be most welcome.
