Hi everyone;

   Many thanks to all those who replied to my question. Apparently the
hung dxnotepad is a known problem. And Digital provides a patch to libXm
that is supposed to fix it. Unfortunately the patch is not available on
DEC ftp server. So you have to call DEC support to get it ((USA)
1-800-354-9000).

   Another temporary solution is to use dxnotepad from osf/1 3.0 on osf/1
3.2. I tried it and it seems to be working so far.

   Someone suggested osf 3.2C might have fixed libXm, so dxnotepad should
work under 3.2C.

   Another problem with dxnotepad, worse than hanging, is that it uses up
CPU and responds very slowly, when you work on a large file. A mere 57KB
text file can bring you machine down to crawling, as I found out on DEC
3000/400. More patches, DEC ?
