Greetings all,
Santa dropped by early this year and left an AlphaStation 600 5/266.
It appears to have two built-in SCSI ports on the back, one 50-pin, the
other 68-pin. Both ports are cabled to the same internal card, but to
different ports on the card.
Our question is: Which flavor of Fast/Wide SCSI is the 68-pin port?
single-ended? differential? Our local DEC guy says singled-ended, while
our third-party disk/tape drive supplier swears it's differential.
(But their differential devices don't work on this box.)
This is a "stock" AlphaStation 600 5/266 that was ordered without
differential SCSI specified anywhere on the order. All the specs I've
seen on this machine so far only say "2 Fast-Wide SCSI-2 busses", but
don't mention single-ended or differential.
Is anyone out there running differential devices on the wide port I've
described above? Did you have to add an optional part to do so?
Thanks,
